eFOUNDERS FELLOWSHIP


The eFounders Fellowship program provides first-hand exposure to e-commerce and digital innovations, access to business leaders across Alibaba and China, as well as an opportunity to connect with like-minded, leading entrepreneurs in your region. The fellowship is a community of passionate and successful "Champions for the New Economy" looking to inspire and create a more inclusive development model for all.

The eFounders Fellowship program is jointly organized by Alibaba Business School and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), who are implementing the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.

Program dates:

The program will be held at Alibaba's headquarters in Hangzhou, China from August 18th - 28th, 2019.

Class 7 welcomes entrepreneurs who are:
• Authentic, open-minded and altruistic leaders of the 'new economy'.
• Building enterprises for long-term success, not for short-term profit.
• Mission-driven and have a strong sense of purpose, integrity, vision and drive.
• Willing to learn and share their experiences and ideas.

Class 7 enrollment criteria:
• You MUST be a founder or co-founder of an officially registered digital venture that has been in operation for at least 2 years.
• Your venture MUST be headquartered, located in or operates in one of the following countries: Algeria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, or Tunisia.
• You MUST provide at least 1 referral in your application (referrals from a partner/organizer/eFounders Fellow are preferred).
• You MUST provide your official business license when requested during the application process.
• Entrepreneurs below 35 years old, female entrepreneurs, and target country locals are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications/special skills:

Academic Qualifications: An advanced university degree in law, environment, or related discipline, or a first university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience: At least seven years of experience in the field of the implementation of the Basel Convention, environmental management, legal and institutional frameworks for the waste management; development of waste inventory; environmentally sound management of waste; or transboundary movements of waste.
Language: Fluency in English, including strong drafting/writing skills is essential. Knowledge of French would be an asset.

THE GLOBAL SCHOOLS PROGRAM

Empowering schools and teachers globally to educate children on the SDGs
Global Schools is an initiative led by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network - Youth Initiative (SDSN Youth) in support of UNESCO’s Global Action Program on Education for Sustainable Development (GAP-ESD). The vision of the program is to generate interest about sustainable development in schools in an effort to educate and engage students with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to encourage them to prioritize these goals in their lifestyles, behaviors, education and professional careers. In working with educators, the program tries to deliver its mission by transforming learning environments globally and making schools the hubs of education and leadership on SDGs, ultimately becoming vehicles for empowering and mobilizing students and young people to help implement the SDGs in their communities.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

Primary criteria:

At the time of applying for this role:
Candidate MUST possess a good command of the English language.
Candidate MUST have excellent public speaking skills, be capable of communicating well with key stakeholders and partners.
Candidate MUST be able to commit at least 6-8 hours per week for this role.
Candidate MUST be aged between 18-30 in order to be eligible for this role.
Candidate MUST be absolutely self-driven, accountable and responsible for meeting his/her goals.

Secondary Criteria

In order to be an advocate one must have:
  • COMMITMENT - Candidate SHOULD be able to demonstrate that they are committed to the vision of the program and capable of working in compliance with the standards and level of professionalism set by Global Schools.
  • FLEXIBILITY - Candidate SHOULD be flexible and capable of working with multiple deadlines and coordinate activities with multiple time zones - this may include late-night calls and meetings.
  • VERSATILITY - Candidate SHOULD be extremely versatile, especially in dealing with the challenges posed by a newly formed and rapidly expanding program.
  • SELF-DRIVEN: Candidates SHOULD be self-driven and able to contact schools and local stakeholders with minimal supervision.

LAGOS BUSINESS SCHOOL YOUNG TALENTS PROGRAMME

The purpose of the two-day programme is to help the school establish an ongoing relationship with the brightest university students in the country prior to and after their graduation from the university. The primary objective of engaging with these talented students is to expose them to a world-class institution and short list suitable candidates for the LBS Management Scholarship Academy. We will also welcome candidates that could become future administrative staff and ultimately faculty members. This programme would help the school build a pipeline of bright academics for the African continent.

Eligibility:
The candidate should not be above 30 years old.
The programme is open to final year undergraduates and Masters Students, youth corps members, and recent graduates.
These students should be on or have graduated with a first class or second class upper.
Previous participants of the YTP are not eligible to apply again.

Programme date: 9 – 10 August 2019.
